I had this idea of drawing a picture of the flashback scenes of the strawhats for quite a long time, but I just never had the idea how exactly it should look like.
Well, but as I was (again) reading the flashbacks of Robin and Chopper (and was moved again) I instantly knew what the picture should look like: The young strawhats in their most sad moments with a serious Luffy in the center.
I think I´m doing this as a tribute to Oda, he is one of the very few authors/comic artists who actually managed (and still manages) to move me, a normally very unemotional person, so much that I nearly cry, and not only for once, but for many times and even after reading a chapter countless of times. I think the reason is because he can draw crying faces really well, I´m one of the few people who love his way of drawing tears, the exaggerated, you can even say ugly faces of the characters with snot coming out of their noses - yeah, I´m touched by that and I´m glad that he continues to draw them regardless of the many people who consider it childish or whatever.

So I tried my best to imitate his style and draw the characters the way he would do now, with only few anatomic changes (because honestly, the position of the ears were never right at the start of the series, even I as someone who is bad at getting the anatomy right can tell this xD).
I hope I could catch the sad feelings of the characters, I chose the moments when I thought the characters would have been most sad in the past.

It took me about three weeks till I got this far, and though this still isn´t the way I imagined it would be at the beginning, I do like this a lot. I hope the one or other likes it as well.

Btw, this is the first of the three (or maybe four) pictures I had in plan, I want to draw another one with the most sad moments of the strawhats pre-timeskip, another one with the moments where the strawhats asked Luffy for help (or something like that) and one with the strawhats just beeing happy or celebrating. At least this is the plan for now, let´s see wether this plan will succeed, since usually most of my plans fails

Woo, I feel like crying now

You captured the sad moments and the feeling very well, I can imagine every scene by looking at each of the young straw hats! I also love that you didn´t color the flash back parts, only the tears and blood! It gives me the creeps!
Ahhh I think I´m gonna watch all these sad parts again now
